Festive Season 2020: Round Two

Festive Season 2020: Round Two

Diwali Festive Sale: Nov 8th -Nov 15th

Festive season sales are always the high point in the calendar year for any e-commerce brand. While people are more inclined towards buying online, the launch of new products are also an important factor driving the growth in online sales. Most of the online brands in India organised the Diwali sale festival between the 8th and 15th of November. The second round of festive season sales (after the Durga Puja / Dussehra sales in late October) shows higher demand for electronics and apparel products where E-tailers were offering unbelievable offers like upto 80% off on multiple products. Mobiles, Laptops, TVs, Home Appliances, Clothing, Home Decor, Furniture, Beauty and Books. Furthermore, the consumers were also having additional discounts specifically for particular bank members.

Giving a gift to a loved one during Diwali is something that Indians have always done. Under normal circumstances people would typically meet and greet each other on the festive day, but this year the situation makes it little difficult to do so. Individuals instead took the option of sending gifts, flowers, sweets, and other edibles to their relatives and friends.

During the Diwali week, Admitad has recorded 31% higher consumer involvement under the categories of Online Food Delivery and Gifting than the previous week of Diwali. There were plenty of offers and discounts offered during the sale period across all categories. The digital appliances category was in higher demand by 26% and the advertisers under this category have received GMV over INR 9.80 Crore from Admitad.

When we talk about E-Commerce, the most popular category among all is Fashion. Consumers bought 30% more apparel and shoes during the Diwali week as compared to the previous week. The lucrative offers on apparels, shoes and accessories convinced the customers to shop to fill their wardrobes and advertisers gained GMV of INR 2.08 Crore on Admitad.

Online gaming and entertainment have become go-to options for everyone nowadays to reduce the boredom at home. It was obvious for these categories to shine through in the market during the Diwali season as well. Online Games received a 72% jump in terms of downloads, the entertainment category also went up by 10% with consumer sign ups.

We hope these insights will help you to understand the customer’s choice better during the festive season and enable you to be ready for the next festive sale.
